Dropping the Ball Domestically | Speak Happiness

This is what my refrigerator looks like right now (and no, this is not staged?it actually looks like this:

What can I say? I?ve been traveling a lot and working like crazy to promote the book, in addition to my regular screenwriting job. ?Still, this is abysmal.

(And before anyone suggests that my husband should have kept the fridge full, I will tell you that he was forbidden from grocery shopping years ago. ?Regular readers of this blog know why, but in case you?re curious, it?s explained here.)

So instead of writing the awesome, moving, beautiful post about the jacarandas in full bloom in LA, I?m heading to the grocery store. Three grocery stores to be exact (Sprouts, Ralphs and Vons). ?The good thing is, grocery shopping makes me truly happy.

No lie. ?It?s not even one of my Happiness exercises. ?I love grocery shopping. ?It means taking care of my family. ?It gives me a chance to plan meals and try new things. ?I am a coupon ninja (sort of, but not really?could never be on a TV show about it or anything), so I love seeing how much we save with strategic planning and execution. ?And there is something very Zen for me just pushing a cart up and down the aisles, contemplating life and nourishment and health and abundance and all the other things food symbolizes.

So ? sorry that the posts about beauty and truth have to wait one more day.
This is a higher priority. ?Thanks for understanding.
Happiness is one thing, but a girl?s gotta eat!

My name is Valerie Alexander. I'm a writer, wife, filmmaker, educator, and tour-guide through life. At my core, I am happy. Bad times come and go, but they don't shake that core happiness. It took a long time to get here, and a lot of work, but now that I've found the destination, I plan to share the map with everyone who wants to take this journey. It doesn't matter where you start, or what language was spoken in your home, come join us in a place where everyone is learning to be fluent in Happiness.
