Janice Perrino, chair of the Okanagan Similkameen Regional Hospital District says the support from Oliver volunteers is outstanding.
Perrino says the Oliver Hospital Auxiliary has now signed the cheque for $100 thousand which is almost half of the cost of a modern communication system which allows doctors and nurses to communicate through the SO General Hospital and the McKinney care facility without a blaring PA system.
Each person with the system badge on their shoulder or lapel can communicate quietly on their needs for assistance.
The Vocera System will cost $230 thousand with the greater part funded by taxpayers.
Other hospitals in this region have it but the Oliver system will be brand new.
